My beautiful mother Mary-Jane became a Registered Massage Therapist in 1998—she ran her own clinic and hustled hard! In 2014 I graduated, became registered and started working alongside my mom. Devastatingly only 6 months into our mother-daughter health team she was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. I took the torch of running the business that day and have been going ever since. Some of you know my mom first hand as I still treat many of my moms clients and some of you indirectly know her through who I am as a person. My mom will always be the toughest person I know—she did all forms of care and she continued to push against for almost 8 years. She always felt she was running on borrowed time and we were so grateful she fought for so long. I’ve been finding comfort knowing she will forever be a ripple (the biggest tsunami wave) in my life and therefore everyone I interact with will feel her energy.
